I don't usually spend much time describing settings in fic, and that's something I wanted to practice here, especially since it's an original setting so I can't just fall back on thinking things like, "The Western Air Temple was in the show--people know what it looks like." ;)

She felt more like she'd grown old.
This is a fantastic line, really and truly. It speaks meassures in a subtle way and makes Mai seem far more real to me.

I also loved Mai's thoughts about Ty Lee - her personality and their friendship, and how Ty Lee would react to Mai's descriptions of things that displease her.

I am loving this story.

I see Mai as feeling older than her years--not wiser, but more cynical and disillusioned.
