You have no idea the extent to which I can relate to nearly all your points. I hate socks, but I hate pantyhose too. I just don't like any sort of material on my feet, just shoes. I love clothing, but I don't go nuts about the latest fashions. I like what I like, and I wear whatever that may be - it could have been something I bought 10 years ago - not that it would still fit me, but I like reinventing my clothing. Bargains, I love them. And I hate paying for a brand name. I realized just how unworthy it is to do that a long time ago, thankfully. I absolutely hate bright artificial light. I can't have the ceiling lamps on in my house, always just lamps and such. I'm perfectly happy with just candlelight. Thunderstorms make me very excited too. It's been a while since we've had a good one here. While I was in Germany this summer, there were quite a few, and it was delightful. And... I would be perfectly content eating good European breads and cheeses for the rest of my life too. Mmm... and add Portuguese Red Wine to that. A very nice ( ... )

I've noticed that we agree on a lot of things. Pantyhose is a business thing for me. Ceiling lamps are terrible, I flip them on briefly to look for something but that's about it. I think reincarnation is as "real" as possibilities as any other religious belief -- in the end it takes faith, we just don't know etc. But I find the concept very interesting.

I agree with all of them except #6, i like thunderstorms but only when I'm with someone else, when I'm alone i start freaking out.
german bread and swiss cheese, i could live on that too, and oh a nice shandy along, scrummy.

socks, suck, i only wear them in winter, cause what i can stand even less than socks is putting on the heater.

Schnäppchen, musta been the first german word I learned, lol.

Oh no! What do you when a storm hits, hide under the covers?

Und wahrhaftig, ein Schnäppchen machen ist immer gut. Sprichst du eigentlich deutsch dort, oder ist der Job und so in Englisch, so dass du es nicht brauchst?

i actually do speak german, i'm half german so I suppose it's easier, job requires both german and english, so i'd be arsed if I didn't.

and nah, i dont hide under the covers, but I always feel a lil weird.

Ahhh, okay. The UK is 'home' though? Or do you feel at home in both places?

I actually hate pantyhose more than any other piece of clothing in the world! I'll never understand why anyone wants to wear something so uncomfortable and inconvenient unless there's a gun pointing at their head :) Anyway, that reminded me of a childhood memory just now... I went to Soviet Union with my parents around the age of 10 & someone had told my mom that we should bring pantyhose to give the cleaning ladies at the hotel because they can't get it elsewhere. Not that I understood anything about the reasons *why* they can't get it, but I also couldn't understand that they'd want to receive ugly pantyhose as gifts, so I spent a lot of time convincing her that we should give them chocolate instead... I think we still brought them pantyhose though, and I hope they were happy ;)

They've been promising thunderstorms (well, maybe not much of a 'storm' but some thunder at least!) here for weeks and I still haven't seen any. Where is it hiding?!?

Okay, that made me laugh. I can just see you guys heading out with a big bag of pantyhose, lol. I remember the pantyhose thing from some trips to the East too - in Romania it was allllll about them and additional things like BIC pens, Snoopy and Garfield merchandise, Adidas shirts, Nike shoes, Levis jeans, Lacoste polos and things like that. Anything Western and brandname was highly sought after and people paid insane prices for it. My dad ended up giving away a few shirts, one of them literally stripped off his back at the beach. Those were crazy times behind the Iron Curtain...

I agree with the vast majority of your quirks. I can't really agree with the European breads and cheeses as... I've never eaten any! Which sucks.

#4 I agree with the most. When I went to see my dorm room, it was super bright and... everything looked so sterile and lifeless! It was the most depressing room I've ever been in. I felt like I was in a Mental Hospital or something.

Oh no, I can just see the dorm room from your description. That's so depressing. I would have started to try and decorate it like a domestic goddess but then, I guess you can only do so much in terms of what they let you do. :\ Have you been to IKEA yet for interiors? :) I love that place.

I haven't yet. That'll definitely be an outlet when I have to purchase chairs and such. I did bought two area rugs, colorful storage, bright blankets to throw over the chair, and I have tons of posters and pictures to put on the walls. Haha, this room will not be the bane of my college experience :)

Indeed, Frau Whee. There is wheeness in the weather. I wish we actually *had* some weather here. As nice as it is to have sunny days all the time, the monotony of it makes me long for really crazy rainstorms and thunder.
