5 Facts of Randomness

Jun 03, 2007 20:09

I'm still feeling terrible, still have no voice. This is a first. I can't remember ever having had this last more than a day. Looks like I need to get to a doctor next week. I have no idea how I'm supposed to make phone calls this way. Will just have to communicate via email - lol. There's absolutely nothing to report about this weekend. Didn't go ( Read more... )

So as a teacher, you're not automatically insured either? How does this work here with government workers? I really have no idea.

I haven't had a voice for the last few days as well- this proves particularly peculiar when considering the fact that it is currently June and not December.
It seems everyone is sick.

Awww, feel better. Mine still isn't back today either. I'm pretty much the anti-hypochondriac and hate going to doctors but this is starting to worry me. It's taking too long. :\

40% of the American population has never visited a dentist.

wow, that's pathetic, spending millions on killing people abroad and having almost half of your own walk around with rotting teeth.

Iceland huh, nice, the ignorant person in me would say, there's nothing much else to do in iceland than read. I'm sad I know.

Yes, absolutely ridiculous. Living abroad, you always hear about how bad health care is in the US. But when you actually live here, it's simply unimaginabale just HOW bad it is. Seeing things in detail on this end, you really have no words. They do have their priorities straight, eh? lol

you know, you hear a lot about the US living in europe, always assumed people were exaggerating. But it seems like they're not.
I've met my own share of ignorant america tourists at work.

Thank you, much appreciated. How does insurance work in SA? More like in Europe or more similar to the US?

I'm not suprised at all regarding the dentist fact. Insurance plans here are terrible. The costs are too high and choice of doctors doesn't seem to be particularly great either.
Can't the United States come up with a better way to deal with insurance issues??

At this point you're lucky to even get an appointment anywhere as a new patient. As someone coming from Europe, hearing things like 'Sorry, we're not taking any new patients' is completely absurd - lol. And this is Los Angeles, not a corn field. I can only imagine how it is in other places in this country.
