Watching the seasons change is one of the most beautiful things we witness in our lives. So many people take it for granted. Late September/early October is always a great time here in Mississippi. The temps are pleasant, and even when it's 80 degrees it's nice and breezy. And no humidity! I can't imagine living in a place where I couldn't experience that. When I was little, my family lived in Tampa, Florida. The house we lived in didn't have central air and heat because the weather there pretty much stayed the same throughout the year. But one Christmas it got so cold that we had to bundle up inside the house. We only had little space heaters to keep us warm. I remember being able to see my breath inside the house, it was so cold.
That sounds really nice. Fall is my favorite season of all, late summer can be nice too as you start anticipating. I can relate to the Florida story, it's pretty much the same here, minus the cold part. I live close to the beach so, with few exceptions, it's never hot enough to need A/C and never cold enough to need a heater {not for me at least, the Cali natives sometimes run about in coats and gloves when I'm still in shirt and shorts so I guess they use heaters too, hehe}. I have my windows open all year round which is nice but you're so right - I reeeally miss the seasons at this point. I was so excited when it rained yesterday. What's the coldest it gets in Mississippi?
It really depends. Last winter was pretty mild, so it really didn't get any colder than the low 30s. There may have been one or two days where we got down to the 20s. But usually during the winter our highs are in the 40s. Occasionally, we'll get a little snow. We didn't get any snow in central MS last winter, but I think northern MS did. One year, it snowed in the middle of the school day, heavy enough for some accumluation. The district decided to send students home. By the time everyone got home it had stopped snowing and most of the snow had melted!
Oh wow, I didn't expect that at all. 30's and 20's is about as cold as it gets even in my area of Germany {it's in the North near the sea). I had absolutely no idea you get snow in Mississippi at all. I'm assuming it's related to higher elevations?
I'm hoping I will get to see some in Germany this time when I go for Xmas. If it's not at our house, I shall chase it and go someplace where there is some. =)
