The Saga of the Christmas Jammies

Listen, my children, and you shall hear ... the epic story of blue's Christmas jammies. Does your family have a tradition like this? My brother and I always got jammies for Christmas from Santa. Santa would come a little early and leave them on our beds so that when we got home from Christmas Eve service, we'd rush inside and discover our ( Read more... )

If I could FIND BoSox PJ bottoms here I would send them to you! I don't suppose you want Texas Longhorns? :D

Our Christmas Eve jammies were from Mama, my paternal grandmother, who had 25+ grandkids (Dad was the oldest of 6) and she made ALL of us jams every year. She's buy a couple of bolts of a girly print and a couple of bolts of a boy print and then make them up in all sorts of patterns: gowns long and short, night shirts, actual PJs...We used to have Thanksgiving at the beach house and there would be, oh, a dozen or more kids sleeping in the loft...all wearing our matching prints from the Christmas before or hand me downs from earlier years.

That is the cutest holiday memory ever!! I love it! My great-grandmother always used to make us mittens. Until I turned nine I lived in New Mexico, Japan and Florida. The coldest it would get was 60 degrees, and then I would bust out those mittens b/c brrrr! LOL. I still have a few pairs, though, and they come in handy now!

I love pink, but I'm getting past the age of cute, too. I love this tradition! It's awesome. I should totally start it with my sis (because her crazy mother in law won't let her stay with them at christmas, so she's staying with me!)

Also, I, uh, did buy the ones I found that had flying unicorns on them. They're little unicorns! That makes them more tasteful!

I TOTALLY POSTED YOU A CARD TODAY! So, uh, expect it after New Year?

I posted you a card on Saturday! I'm thinking it will arrive in 2011, too!!!

Flying unicorns that you buy for yourself are perfectly acceptable. A pink poodle that says "I love to shop" when you, in fact, hate shopping, is not. Though, you know, you mentioned unicorns and I just have to post -- it's a knee-jerk reaction, okay!

I see the distinction.

I'm not sure that horn would make for good PJs. Might get a little poke-y in the night.

Heh, heh, heh, that's not what's poking you! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Great story.

We used to have sacks where Santa would put our presents in, we only stopped doing it two years ago because we were getting older. Still I used to love seeing how full my Christmas sack was on Christmas morning.

if it wouldn't get me fired, i'd take all the pajama bottoms from the pj sets that get ripped apart every single day and mail them to you - some of them are even nice :)

I appreciate the thought, my sweetling! I'm wearing dark green and dark purple flannel bottoms right now.

She gets it from her mother. One time my grandmother sent me this outfit that I swear I saw on little old men vacationing in Florida. I could not wear it, and my mother didn't blame me. I have nightmares about that outfit.
