I was like "why are there no comments on this??" and then I realised I was actually reading it from my f-list, not a rec list...

I like. The tension between Jack and Ianto is so painful because it's so inevitable, and especially when Ianto's saying he'd do anything Jack told him - because he is, and it's not putting himself in front of a bullet or anything, but it's still so insidiously hard. And if I was Ianto I'd probably smack Jack a bit when they got back to the Hub for breaking his cover in the first place. :P

Yeah, brand spanking-new fic -- you're the first person to have read it!

And I'm glad you liked it, then! Jack and Ianto go through the wringer, but they weather the storm in the end. The emotional turmoil is every bit as painful as the physical danger Ianto goes through on Jack's orders every day; I agree. Sure, he chooses to be Torchwood, but that doesn't make it easy.

And if I was Ianto I'd probably smack Jack a bit when they got back to the Hub for breaking his cover in the first place. :P

Ianto's too irresistible for his own good! :)

See first I read rec lists because I'd read almost nothing in this fandom, and I went through probably nearly a thousand fic in somewhere under a month, but now I just like rereading old things and finding the odd few that I missed. :P But new stuff is great too, especially since we're starting to get the new canon to work off.

And he is! I would venture that he's almost like my bunny rabbit, except possibly less furry and prone to acrobatics.

Thanks! The idea for it was all rexluscus, but I really liked writing it.

Oh, that was lovely. I really liked Ianto undercover, I love fics where Ianto gets to be as competant as we know he is. And it was bloody Jack that put him in danger in the first place! I too hope Ianto gives him an enormous slap for that - Jack really needs to remember all his lessons in professionalism.

And it's a shame that Alexandra turned out to be as evil as she was. I liked her as a character, or I did up until she tried to kill Ianto, of course :)

Alexandra was looking out for Number One. I think she got rather fond of Ianto (who wouldn't?), but when push came to shove, he could get her killed and she was having none of that! In the movie, Sebastian's character is not devious or clever enough to carry it off, but I wanted Alexandra to be smart and fairly competent, so I didn't saddle her w/ a parent who really ran the show. This made her stronger, and more likable as a character (in my opinion) -- but then she also really had to get her hands dirty.

Thanks so much for your comment! I too cheer for competency in the Torchwood staff. I want my Earth-protectors to succeed! :D

This is brilliant! If it wasn't for the sex - which is not a complaint, I very much enjoy the sex - then this would read like a Torchwood episode. I love the idea of Ianto going undercover in this and Jack and Ianto arguing because Jack's all jealous. Really, so many bits I loved in this, although my favorite bit was probably just before the first party when Gwen was doing Ianto's cufflinks.

Another great fic! :)

Aw, Gwen & Ianto being all friendly and looking out for each other! I like them like that, too! :)

And there has to be sex. Poor TV characters don't really get to get it on, but in fics...well now! That's a whole different kettle of fish.

Thanks for reading!

Oh lovely. I do so enjoy mission stories in Torchwood, where they actually do their jobs! And the build and break here really worked-- despite all his 51st century 'lack of jealousy' and all that, Jack's an extraordinarily proud and vain man, and he's been fooled by Ianto once already. The idea that he's being played again would be-- as you suggest-- utterly unbearable to him. And Ianto's carefully measured control, especially of his feelings towards Jack because he's so aware of who Jack is, and that eventually he'll end up left behind and eclipsed. And that's all right with him most days but sometimes he needs to keep back something of himself, because Jack Harkness has squeezed his way into every part of his life.

Gwen's great in this story-- a teasing, solid presence at their side who tries to understand even when she doesn't get what's between them, why they push each other so hard.

Oh Jack, you utter moron, ruining Ianto's cover. SIGH.

Jack's already gone through the "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" with Ianto. What happens w/ the third? Lucky for Jack, he won't find out in regards to Ianto b/c dude is loyal, loyal, loyal, if only Jack would realize it. I think Jack actually does realize this, on some level, but he's human. We all have niggling doubts from time to time, and they may be silly, but we still crave reassurance.

Yeah, I think Ianto does an amazing job bottling things up, but when we see him snap -- boy howdy does he snap! I'm thinking especially of tasering a guy in the head. And I agree; Ianto is very accepting of Jack's immortality and all the things it means to be w/ Jack, but every now and then the ocean of Jack threatens to drown him and he needs to keep his head above water somehow.

Glad you liked Gwen! I haven't done straight-up Jack/Ianto in awhile, so there was just a minimum of Gwen. But I do like the bits of her that made an appearance!

NEW EPISODES START TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
