100 Things: Farmers' Market (#2)

So last year I decided to bite the bullet and start my own side business. I'd always loved cooking and baking, and people were always telling me I should sell my food. My typical response -- why would people buy this when they could make it themselves? But you know, baking is becoming something of a lost art. People don't take the time for it ( Read more... )

First, I never sleep. Second, a ton.

LOL, okay, I make five different kinds each week, normally. Plus dog treats.

CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!

I have orders for red velvets for four different events in the next two weeks! So many cupcakes to make, it's craziness. And I made strawberries and cream last week, and they were awesome.

Very awesome!

I do a weekly summer market as well (with art, rather than edibles) and ours just started this weekend as well.

Very good luck to you, its incredibly hard work. I wish you were my booth neighbor! Id live on those yummy-looking cupcakes all summer!

The fun part of the farmers' market is seeing what everyone else has. I've bought sandals, a bag, chapsticks, jewelry, cards, etc. there. Plus veggies. :) It is a lot of hard work and commitment. What kind of art do you make?

My icon is a fragment of one of my pieces. I'm a wildlife artist for the most part, and mostly local critters, so :Alaskan Wildlife art.

Our market gets tourists right off of the cruise ships, locals who come to buy fresh produce and food, and all of us use it as a weekly "storefront" for our regular customers. Its wonderful, but May 12 was perhaps a touch early for us...we got freezing rain! I'm still recovering!

Oh, wow, that's so cool! I love wildlife; I've worked in wildlife protection for an international NGO for almost eleven years now. (Saving wildlife through ... accounting, editing and grant writing! All the fun stuff!)

My roommate's family is going on one of the Alaskan cruises this summer. They might be your customers!

Sometimes, I dream about your carrot cake cupcakes. Or at least I wish I did. :D Though that strawberry shortcake one is sort of calling out to me.

I dream about baked goods, and finding the perfect combo of flavors. Much like Dean Winchester.

Ooh, the peach one sounds good! I love the plastic containers. How about a pic of your sign? I'd love to see that. I'm glad you're still enjoying it. I hope this year goes well at the market.

I second this - would love to see your sign. Actually if someone could take a pic of your booth that would be cool!

Thanks, bb! I hope it goes well, too. And the sign is really awesome. Have been meaning to take a pic of it. I need to get more signs, spruce up the joint...
