Jan 06, 2015 13:15

I've been finding a great many practical things at the thrift stores recently, a case of light bulbs, a new bath mat for the tub, a stereo cabinet, a reversible Adidas jacket, t-shirts, et. al.  But I have found a few noteworthy curiosities.

Thanks!

English. And there's no setup option to select another language. I'm leaning toward suspecting this is a bootleg, a very well made bootleg, but a bootleg nonetheless.

Thanks. Yes, now is the time to hit the thrift stores--right after the glut of end of year donations.

I have donated far more than I usually do, but my place was getting out of hand. It was mostly stuff my kid had outgrown and no longer used. As much as I don't really have the open space, I still love thrifting for items that I know I will use. I feel like books and kitchen supplies can never be over-done.

Inaccurate subtitles would be so cool. But no, there's only English subtitles--yet another reason to think these are bootlegs!

Daww the subtitles are the best part of the bootleg. Don't worry I have seen official releases have dodgy subs as well like for a Bollywood movie I have called Ra.One, they are speaking English at the time and the subs don't even match...

Dang, I can't rent Blood Sisters from Netflix. They have a huge selection, but not everything.

It's great that you value these things. As a culture we don't appreciate old things nearly enough.

And many things from the past are actually better/cheaper their modern day counterparts, e.g., the double edge safety razor.
