Mid-Week Special!
For those looking to get over the half-way mark of the work and school week, recs of the particularly notable that I've read the past couple of days.

Ray from the Material World | Dessert First [Fraser/RayK, PG-13, 17.334 words]
I had the feeling this was going to be an intriguing fic and it most definitely was! Fraser, broken after Victoria's reappearance in his life, opts to be part of the Integrated Pilot program. Now with his body in stasis while his mind functions as the control center of a spaceship, he feels certain he's achieving his greatest purpose. That is, until he's assigned a new partner named Stanley Raymond Kowalski.

I Can Hear Machinery (Blinding Me with Science) | splash_the_cat1 [Tony Stark/Sam Carter, PG-13, ~2.700 words]
A fantastic pairing as Tony loves Sam for her body and her brains! Splash, not surprisingly, writes a Sam I adore.

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend | thewordtree [Arthur/Merlin, R, ~3.600 words]
Perfect for Halloween! This is a spooky future that the author sets up wonderfully considering the brevity. Merlin is working third shift in the city morgue when an old friend appears on his table, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Casting On | Chandri [John/Rodney, NC-17, 20.198]
Believe it or not, this is a crossover with Murder, She Wrote - and you really don't need to know anything about that show in order to enjoy the daylights out of this fic. In fact, this works so well that you forget the story's foundation (the connection between the two universes) isn't some esoteric canon alluded to in a throwaway line and unintentionally built upon. (Read the prequel, Knitted Goods, first - 1.346 words, PG-13)

The Little Vulcan | ayalesca, with art by mango_trills [Gen, PG, 6.974 words]
It would be impossible for me to recommend this enough. This is Le Petit Prince via STXI and it is so completely wonderful - the references, the characterizations, the cameos, the artwork. Gorgeous and a must read.
No Dead End in Sight | northatlantic [Kirk/McCoy, PG-13, ~10.800 words]
An amazing character study of Bones through the years, specifically based around the premise that he's as much a genius as Kirk and the rest of the gang while remaining true to canon (as far as I know it). Very impressive.
For any of my fellow Reaper!McCoy junkies, we haz a vid!!

There have also been two new fics in the Western Skies verse - a slow building AU that incorporates the existence of the X gene. While you do need to start at the beginning, I will say that these two latest installments were both quite good (and I'm loving Archer's role in this).
