geebus $188! This is almost as bad as that time that guy in Nigeria bought includingbutnotlimitedto.com and tried to sell it back to me for like $2000. Then $1000. Then $500. When I stopped replying to his e-mails he tried to sell it to me for fifty bucks. I just went and bought the .tv for 10 bucks and lived happily ever after.

Silly e-commerce!

sheryl.oppenheim.name isn't really the domain... rather, oppenheim.name (obviously covering a heck of a lot more people) is the domain. They must have automatically populated subdomains with common first names, for example this one.

Just by looking around a little bit, it seems that the whole .name thing is designed to extract money from people. There are several domain registrars with ".name reseller programs" where for $100 or so you can buy up .name domains in bulk and then easily resell them to people whose names you've squatted on.

I will never stoop to their level! I'm much happier with my obscure little slice of the internet.

And, unrelated, that interview with DMX you posted? golden!
