Oh, ouch. Dean doing a complete turn around. Loved how Dean's thoughts of his parents, turned bad. Loved how being alone turned out to not be so bad. And loved how Sam not being in hell was the impetus for Dean to break. This was painful, but beautifully written. Thanks for sharing!

YESSS.

You did my favorite topic, and you did it so well!

I love a lot of things about this. The first few that come to mind are:
-the frighteningly large amount of sense it makes for Dean to get up. with the torturing souls who actually deserve it, and the chance of getting topside...
-"Sam's not here." Oh, Dean.
-the delicious little evil bits with Alistair: one sense gone improves the rest, smelling blood in the water, "the deformed mess that is presumable his face."

so, um. awesome.

(ALSO: you linked me! thank you! <3<3<3!)

Woo! Glad you liked! I do know how you feel about Alistair ;)

This version of things is a bit "nice" for hell, in some ways, so I'm glad that the creepy parts worked out ok and gave the right undercurrent of "hellish and unending pain". I tend to like fics that really dismantle Dean's character in hell (Eh hem, my rec...), but for this I wanted to take a look at how his devotion to Sam could have played into his breaking, and the above is what ended up coming out.

Oh yes, this is certainly one way it could have happened! Brilliantly presented!

haha, yeah... though honestly I feel like it minimizes Dean's choices in some way to have it be (as always) all selflessly about Sam. Anyways, I'm glad you liked it!
