SPN + anime = ????

It's...I don't even... Just... WTFBBQ, for serious.  Is this an elaborate joke? In what universe is this an actual business decision and not crack!? I am torn between a serious case of NO NOT WANT and being amused that the worse it is, the more delicious the wank will be.  I won't lie, pretty sure I'll end up watching it.  But I will also be

spn, no seriously wtf, wtfbbq

On the one hand, I agree with the WTF, but on the other, the lineup of people they have working on it is pretty impressive. (Studio that did Death Note! People involved with Paprika! OMG.) So, I don't think it'll be quite the predicted shitfest. If it is, then that probably means the show's cursed or something. which is not out of the question.

Yeah, I may have knee-jerked too hard; there is no actual indication here that there will be hammer space or giant sweat drops haha. I think I'm mostly worried about "adaption decay". The second time around is never quite as good and while I do like some anime, in the case of SPN I feel like the live-action actors and settings work with (against?) the sometimes-campy or overwrought writing to give the show an interesting subtext or depth or something... and I'm worried that animating it will lose all the parts that actually make SPN engaging.

I guess I feel like the really great parts of the show are fragile and not necessarily the ones the creators THINK are the good parts, and even in capable hands, the retelling will probably utterly misinterpret the unique mix of stuff that resulted in the first seasons being awesome. *grouchy grouchy*

On the other hand, we'll have some pretty awesome and cannon-ish Dean art, so THAT's alright ;)

DON'T LIE THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME (ALTHOUGH AWESOMENESS MAY DEPEND ON LEVEL OF ALCOHOL CONSUMED).

Actually, I'm more curious than anything else. (And not that this is a good thing, but can you imagine the added levels of wank that can be added because it will now also be an anime? Sorry, I'm not helping, am I?)

Haha, about half the comments on the original article are along the lines of "so underage yaoi is canon now, y/y?" and split 50/50 on if this is a good thing. IDEK. I can't decide if i'm rooting for it to be a streamlined, well written retelling that adds depth to the mythology and characters....or if i want it to be so bad that F!S is flooded with the howls of fangirls everywhere for years to come. Wait no, I actually do know which of these options I prefer.

In other news I think this may be the first anime where the live action actors are prettier than the animation <3
