This was just lovely and so true. I loved the citizens giving flowers to Aragorn and Faramir and was fascinated with Faramir's view of his actions.Thank you for a lovely gift!

You are so welcome, Linda, and so hope your birthday was delightful! In my-verse, of course, such processions tend to lead to citizens seeking to gift those principles in the processions with flowers and sprays of greenery. I was inspired to this by the RotK film where the citizens of Minas Tirith lay branches and flowers before those going out intent on retaking Osgiliath, and by the tributes I saw at Windsor Castle after the death of the Queen Mum. Such lovely images of respect!

Oh, this was a lovely story, Larner. And what happened to the staves, indeed? Wasn't there a tale that you or Linda had told about those staves in the heart of Mordor? Really - just a lovely interlude when I should have been working :-)

Thank you so, Erulisse. Yes, that was my story "A Tree Grows in the Pass" in which Elboron and Eldarion learn what became of the staves. Isn't it odd what small details can catch at our imaginations while we're writing? Smile!

What a lovely conversation, and such a likely one to have taken place at some point--for I am certain that Aragorn would thank Faramir for his wise judgment and discretion.

And I loved the little interruptions of the people from time to time--it really made it feel more real.

Thanks so, Barbara. But as they were involved in such a procession I'm certain that the populace would be wanting to show the King and his Steward just how glad they are to have them there. And I'm so glad that you agree about how likely such an exchange would be!
