As soon as I saw the title and Lalia's name in the tag I knew this had to be a great fic. Aaaaand I was proved right.
I hope that, later on when he's won her heart, Reginard will tell Linden of the great pains he went to to defend her honor! (And Frodo as the master planner is, as usual, brilliant.)
Am so glad you enjoyed this one, too, Labourslamp. I finally had to write out how it was that Lalia's chair got glue on it! And I found it was well worth writing! Heh!
As for Reginard's future--well, that's still to be learned, other than that he ended up as one of the Took lawyers who helped Frodo get the Mayor's office settled after the Time of Troubles again. Heh!
As you know, I really detest Lalia, so it's always fun to see a story in which she gets her comeuppance. And after seeing your challenge fic, it makes it even funnier. Especially Frodo's protesting his innocence to Pip in the other story--well, he might not have done it with his own lily-white hands, but he was definitely the mastermind.
I'll bet that occurred to Bilbo too. But I bet he'd never let on.
If not THE mastermind, there's no question he was an accessory of the firt order! Heh! But I've always seen him prone to creative vengeance, and if anyone deserved such a thing, it has to include Lalia!
And I'm certain Bilbo and Pal both believe Frodo was involved to a greater extent than merely teaching the Took younglings how to write rude things in Tengwar! Heh!
O'ho, so that's what really happened. I love what he actually wrote, She was just that. And she was prideful, too, and you know what pride comes before.:) Oh, I'm so evil.
Well, in this case pride came before the sticking, but that's neither here nor there, I suppose.
And I've always liked Paladin.
It was fun to finally put the whole story together from the incident in "Second Mum" in which everyone's left wondering whether or not Frodo actually did this. But I don't think he'd admit his involvement to Pippin, not at the age of eleven when telling him of it.
Undoubtedly Lalia did deserve such a thing. And I've always seen Frodo as a master prankster toward those who've hurt him or those close to him. And he didn't actually do it himself, of course....
Hope your birthday has been a good one You're welcome.
I absolutely love this. Dreamflower recently convinced me that I need to work Lalia into one of my future stories and, being so intimidated by her, I'm very please to see that even Reginard managed to give her what she deserves :) Very clever thinking of Frodo too and I just love Paladin... the voice of reason probably behind a huge surpressed grin :)
Am so very glad you enjoyed it! And hope your birthday was a good one.
I've done a bit with Lalia before, although I've mostly looked at other folks' reactions to her. But I found I had to write out the story of Frodo and the glue on the chair, as I've alluded to it so often, starting I think in "Second Mum." She's not so bad to write, I find, although I don't think anyone has done a better job with her than Lindelea and Dreamflower herself.
Again, you're welcome, and it was a pleasure to write this.
Lalia seems to be avoided by many writers, but when I do come across her she is usually well handeled and definitely intimidating. I just hope that, when I get to writing her myself I will do her personality justice.
I love how your Frodo basically is the person in the background that sets the pieces moving. Definitely a terror and not just of Buckland :)

Never thought about Frodo being a prankster, but I can see where he might have been. :)
