RIP Uncle Walt

Tomorrow is my Uncle Walt's funeral and wake, but I can't go because I didn't manage to cram two days of work into one today. That's the nature of my job--when I take time off, I don't have less work, just less time to do it in. :sigh

You have my sympathies. Uncle Walt sounds as if he was a wonderful fellow. I wish you could have taken the time off to go to the funeral and the wake (this is a definite downside of jobs that don't have back-up as I learned when my mother suffered her fatal stroke and I couldn't travel to say goodbye).

Thank you. The book I'm in the planning stages for actually has a protagonist named Walt. There are no similarities between the character and my uncle except the name (well, except for the fact that the character will be in a war and my uncle was in a war), but it's because of my uncle that I like that particular name. ;)
