Oh, I adore this. ::melts:: You just captured the devestation of their break-up so well, especially on Larsa, who is possessive in a way that's frightening and terrible and absolutely fascinating to watch. (The dreams he has of her, the window he faithfully keeps own till the end and the part where he mentions his willingness to blow away every port she could possibly use to hide against him... that was incredibly sad and dark and yet so plausible as well ( ... )

I'm glad you like it! I couldn't stand to leave things too bleak; I don't think Penelo, sunny-natured as she is, would turn her back entirely. Nor do I think that Larsa is incapable of understanding why she pulls away, but he'll see it in terms of his own situation first, then apply the theory to Penelo. He's a little over-analytical in matters of the heart, but also young and too used to getting his way. Real maturity is staying friends after the break-up (which in my case, lasted until the new girlfriend appeared, so let's see where that goes, hmmm?). Anyway, after I read yours, I just couldn't let things end there - Basch has to get all the angst in this series, damn it! ^.~

Pimp away; I adore free advertising. My fics, sporadic as they are, never seem to garner much notice. ^.^

In Mithrigil's universe, she actually did turn her back on Larsa entirely. But then, given how manipulative Mithrigil's Larsa was, it was probably a sound decision to have made. He probably would have sucked her back into his orbit if she had tried to stay friends with him, even after he got married.

But if the world had been kinder and if he just learned to let go and mature, I really do see this as the way things could have ended up. If only, right? ♥

So cute and beautifully heartbreaking! Well, okay, not really cute, but it's habit to incorporate that word by now. ^_^; Incredibly well done, I have to say.

It's interesting to see something so hopeful about the disintegration of their romance, acknowledging that it's hard for a romance between an emperor and sky pirate to be sustained, but hard also for him to let her go. I cheered to see Larsa aiming to be the better man about Penelo, and the hope in his closing script makes it something more than bittersweet.
