As the title will hopefully show, this is the beginnings of a series of writings that will eventually be collated into a single page on the rational parrot page. However, I’m not currently in a mental or physical state to sit down and write it all at once, and I like the feedback, so I’m going to do blog posts first, refine my ideas, and then ( Read more... )

The dog-training equivalent is kinda the people who frustratedly cry "I just want my dog to come when I call!" which, depending on your relationship with your dog, is super easy to train, or super hard. The core of it is creating an environment where your dog realizes that whatever else she might want to do, coming to you is going to be better for her... whereas most people kind of default to making sure that Fun Ends When the Dog Returns. No wonder she doesn't recall.

We had just one GCC for a long time, and recently we added another in the hope that they would keep each other company and become a flock, especially when we weren't home. Munchkin would often call out when we weren't in the same room and we knew she didn't like being alone.

Now that we've had the second GCC for about 8 months they get along quite well and have become a flock of their own. The only problem is that they still consider us a part of their flock, so now instead of just one conure calling for us from the other room, we have two :D.

I think it's the best case scenario though, despite the noise, because they love each other, and they still love us.
