[The pod hisses in static first, then the vampire's low voice thrums through the feed, surrounded by silk, satin and darkness....]

Little yummydarkness, hearken unto my voice. I have swift need of thee. Ride upon night and have it bear thee to my feet.

Come...come...come...

[A long, tired sigh and the transmission softly ends.]

[He rises out of the shadows and into the room as silent as the night itself and gazes at the darkest one on the island. Glowing yellow eyes gaze at Alucard without concern or care. He will never fear this one. He will never fear anyone. As always a tendril of darkness reaches out and wraps around Alucard's wrist. He blinks and wiggles a bit, like a dog shaking off water.]

Skaaaah.

[The vampire stands at the window, staring out over the town. The barest hint of a smirk graces his mobile mouth at the dark touch, but he merely turns his head and acknowledges the darkling's presence with a nod.]

I've need of you to watch over my Master while I sleep, little one. I'll not trust the denizens of this place to her safety, in light of recent events.

[It was a simple order from the darkest one. And while Anti was not used to guarding anyone, he suspected it was not exactly the hardest thing to do. Most on the island were bright hearts. He gazed shifted and tilted his head to where he sensed the heart and then back at Alucard. He would guard until he was told not to. The dark one had ordered it and so long as Alucard was the darkest one on the island, Anti would obey.]

[Feeling the acquiescence from the little one, Alucard nodded tiredly and heaved a sigh.

He closed his eyes and allowed his human form to dissipate, swirling into pure blackness that slowly began to pour into the open lid of his coffin, his last true empire, until the entirety was filled with darkness and the lid slowly closed with a hollow click.

The candles lighting the room began to dim until all of them winked out, and the parlor was sheathed in cool shadow.

The vampire slept. He was home. For now, it was enough.
