I sympathize with you here. I was never allowed to celebrate Halloween (or any other holidays for that matter) since my parents were Jehovah's Witnesses. It sucked.

Thank goodness I have kids now to trick or treat vicariously through, lol.

My cousin is/was? a Jehovah's Witness and when she came down to stay with us for a while she went c-r-a-z-y. Her mom and step-dad never let her do anything, no holidays, birthdays, friends birthdays in addition to being super strict and so when she was 'off the leash' she did a little of everything. Not saying you were the same but I can see how unfun that might've been.

I plan to rock the shit out of Halloween when my niece is old enough to appreciate it. Her parents can stay at home because I'll be in charge of trick or treating!

Yeah, it kinda did suck. Especially seeing all my friends at school with their backpacks full of all the candy they got. The church we used to go to when I was a kid had like a hay ride something or other where people would put on their cowboy bests (and lol we lived in Cali at the time and did not live on/near farms so... ???) and sit around bonfires and have carnival-like games but Idk. I think that's where my dislike of most things cowboy come from, the resentment of being forced into cowboy hats and boots instead of the Freddy Kreuger I wanted to be. XD

That's cool. My dad used to buy the candy when it was on sale the day after but it was never the same. Anyway, it's funny that you say Freddy Kruger because I always wanted to dress up as him when I was a kid. XD
