Oh, Jesus. The first one. I can't look at it. It's like looking into the sun or something.

The second one is actually really sweet, but I still can't really look at it. It's my aversion to photomanips -- but... it's like a .gif manip. How do people do that? I want to know, too!

I finally figured out how they do it. I thought of it in that stage where you're half-sleep, just waking up, right? And I was like, "That's it!" Lol. I'm a dork.

Anyway, I think the way you create a .gif is by merging together a bunch of freeze frames into a short of tiny animation. There's software where you can make it into a single (.gif) file. So, to create these icons, they just merge a bunch of photo manips together. It's pure genius I tell you! And probably a lot of work. Haha.
