That was beautiful and moving and astonishing and heartbreaking and hopeful and a million other things all at once, it was perfectly in character and just made my heart break and healed it up again all in one chapter. I think that Jack's thoughts on the Gravedigger incident and on Zack were among the most perfectly pitched words I've read on the subjects. The description of The Crack were incredibly cathartic for me to read.

Also, have to mention that I loved that Jack would expect mocking and derision from Booth, and receive anything but.

I'm literally trembling on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment.

Although I'm just tempted to post an "I totally agree with the person above me" comment, I figure you deserve more than that. This chapter was, as mentioned, heartbreaking and hopeful all wrapped up into one. Hodgins's thoughts about Zach, in particular, were heartbreaking in the extreme. And yet, the ending is just so damn hopeful. Booth and Angela helping Hodgins out had to be the sweetest thing in the world.

I can't wait for the next installment of this -- especially if it's at this length! While the chapter is longer than most you see out there, you don't spend tons of time going over and over the same thing. You move forward within the chapters. It's nice.

Oh, there's never any need to apologize for lengthy reviews - they're my bread and butter! Great to hear you're still enjoying this - I have to admit, I was getting a little choked up myself thinking about Zack not being there for Hodgins. Here's hoping the next few parts live up to everyone's expectations!

I came across this story on the 206 Bones comm., and I've got to say I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. I especially like the length. A lot of the Bones fic I've come across so far tends to be short, which can be great as well, but I've been itching for a nice, long fic I could sink my teeth into. I also think this type of plot would work really well if done on the show. I could so see Sweets trying to drag them on something like this. Heh. And they really could use a chance to rebond after everything that's happened.

The only thing in this chapter that seemed slightly OOC for a second was when Brennan didn't make eye contact with Booth, because she's usually unflinchingly direct. However, I can also see it as in-character after thinking about it more, because perhaps she's feeling more shy and out-of-sorts dealing with him in this way since it's more emotion than she's used to.

Anyway, point being: Thumbs up so far!
