L.A Quartet - L.A. Confidential

To call L.A. Confidential a "hard boiled detective novel" is a little bit like calling Lord of the Rings a "fairy tale." Indeed there are scenes in L.A. Confidential where the detectives collate evidence across the book's numerous plot lines that make the histories recounted at the Council of Rivendell (sp?) look like nursery rhymes
