Bora glanced at the clock.

10:49 AM.

She had just gotten out of bed, her appearance still disheveled from a silent, good night's sleep. Her long, dark brown locks were tied in a loose ponytail and she had the decency to put on her black Hanyang University hoodie before stepping out onto the balcony of their 5th story hotel. And by their, it's meant that there would be another person with Bora. That other person would be Hyorin, her significant other.

Her lover.

Her lover who was no where to be seen.

It had confused Bora to say the least. She finds herself to be a very touchy and possessive girlfriend, causing her displeasure when waking up alone. The two were taking their annual spring break road trip from their mutual hometown of Seoul to Busan. It was the second day of their trip, and Bora had taken advantage of a snoring Hyorin to push herself to drive all the way to Daegu from Suwon (she didn't know why they were in Suwon in the first place), although Daegu was a city neither of the two had been to before. However, Hyorin was particularly skeptical about staying in Daegu. When she woke up, she noticed that they were only 67 kilometers away from Daegu, which puzzled her. Bora had explained how she simply wanted to go to Daegu instead of their usual stop in Sangju. All they ever did in Sangju was party with Hyorin's cousins, anyway. Hyorin was furious, not bothering to take a breath as she blabbered on about how they would eventually get lost trying to get back on the highway. The both of them were only nineteen, Hyorin didn't think they knew enough to be straying away from the course. That and the fact that she had another plan up her sleeve, in which the plan was set in Sangju. Bora knew none of this plan, she only knew Hyorin was typically a girl of routine. But, Bora was the driver. They had gotten into a minor, but still heartbreaking, argument in the car. Hyorin refused to talk to Bora the rest of the way to Daegu. Bora was sensitive, and Hyorin tends to overreact.

But if we do it this way, we'll get to Busan one day earlier than we usually do, which gives us more time to... Bora had said.

Yoon Bora. Focus on the road, not on my tits, please.

I was going to say more time to ourselves, not sex. You know, that quiet time we never get to have?

Hyorin sighs.

Bora replayed the whole conversation in her head, purposely excluding the argument. She turned around to lean her back on the railing. She thought about where Hyorin could have possibly went, as the car keys to her Mitsubishi were still on the side table. She wouldn't have gone to the gym downstairs, Hyorin was never the athletic type. She could have gone to the restaurant downstairs for breakfast- no, wait, they only open for dinner. She could have run off in the middle of the night, but where? No, that didn't make sense to Bora either. What the hell, man.

She couldn't help the fact that she was a worry-wart.

She's mad at you, Bora. It's normal for people to run off like that. Just maybe not Hyorin...

She pushed all thoughts of Hyorin's departure out as she turned back around to grip the railing, pulling herself forward and leaning on her right foot. The skyscrapers around her were beautiful. Bora loved modern architecture, it was always fascinating to her. She takes a breath inward.

She enjoyed silent moments.

She enjoyed the serenity, the peace, the tranquility of it all. Their hotel room backed out onto a two-lane back road which was particularly quiet. There were a few civilians walking about, one street vendor, but no cars at all. She looks up at the buildings. As a political science student, she couldn't help but picture herself in one of those buildings, making conversation with some of the world's leaders. Then, afterwards, coming straight home to their seventh-story apartment, ready to watch a movie with her beautiful and beloved girlfriend.

The beautiful and beloved girlfriend that probably wants nothing to do with her as of the moment.

She inhales sharply as the choking thoughts invade her mind once again. However, the are cut short by the vibration of her phone in her front pocket.

Bora's favorite picture of Hyorin lights up on her screen with the words Hyorinnie <3 across the top. She answers.

"Hello?"

"Do you like cotton candy?" Hyorin's questioning voice says.

"Not really," Bora furrows her eyebrows. "Where are you?"

"Okay, how about bubble tea? Do you like mango or strawberry better? Sorry, I can't remember."

"Could you answer my question first? I don't like waking up to an empty bed and my arm clutched around a lonely pillow."

"Well, that's sweet, but I can't tell you until you answer all of my questions."

Bora sighs. "As long as you're alright."

"Shut up, you worry too much. I'm fine, mom. Anyways, first question, your favorite movie is The Chaser, correct?"

"Correct."

"Second question, your favorite dessert is a lava cake?"

"Right."

"Okay, almost done. You like it when you simply get to hold me right?" Hyorin had no tone of reassurance this time.

"I sure do... Hyorin, what's the point of asking me questions you already know the answer to?"

"No reason. Wanna tell me what you're doing right now?"

"Oh, you know, just sitting outside in my bathing suit, watching an anti-animal abuse parade while petting the cat. The usual."

Hyorin snorts. "That was cute, but what are you really doing?"

"Standing outside on the balcony, thinking of a certain someone." Bora takes a breath. "Are you still mad at me?"

Hyorin snorts again. "God, do me a favor and stop being so romantic, it's too early for that."

"Again not answering my question. but, it's almost eleven thirty, honey bunches," Bora smirks to herself, knowing she just made Hyorin puke a little. "Now, do me a favor and come back. Or, at least tell me where you are. I mean, that was the deal wasn't it?"

Silence.

"No. Bye." The line goes dead.

Bora gapes at her phone, processing what just happened.

Way to go, idiot. You just reminded her she's mad at you. Fucking genius, Bora, anything else you want to ruin before you spend another few hours cooped up in the car with your furious time bomb of a girlfriend?

Bora runs a hand through her hair.

"Fuck," She paces inside the hotel room. "I really have to fix this."

----

Don't come back to the hotel yet. Bora sends a text to her lover.

A few minutes pass until her phone vibrates.

Wasn't planning on it.

Bora's heart swells as she quickly puts her phone away. She had left their hotel with a burning flame inside her. She was going to set everything in it's place, even though she didn't fully understand what she did wrong to begin with. She knew Hyorin took everything like it was the end of the world, but she didn't realize Hyorin's intentions were different. All Bora wanted was some downtime with her girlfriend she never sees because of school and work.

She set off towards the city library, moving as fast as her pink sneaker-clad feet would take her without running. Along the way, small stores filled up the bottoms of the previously admired towers, making Bora snap her head every which-way trying to figure out what she could do to add to her apology. Bora always had the tendency to crack under pressure, making the situation even harder for her.

Out of impulse, she decides to go into the flower shop first (highlight the word impulse).

"Hello," Bora greets the middle-aged woman at the till.

The store was quite small, curving into an L-shape. Large bouquets were spread around one pedestal, individual flowers on another, and even balloons and cards were decorated along the walls. The woman standing at the counter looked frail, but still resembled a motherly figure, much like Bora's own mother. She had a subtle smile plastered along her wrinkled face as she eyed Bora who was absent-mindedly darting her eyes over everything in the store.

She hesitates. "Um, can you recommend me a small bouquet for... apologies?"

The woman beams. "Oh, yes, of course! I would say a couple pink roses would be suitable. However, it does depend who you're apologizing to, so I think a smart woman like yourself would be able to decide."

Bora smiles, but she's taken back. "Thank you, but I don't think I'm that smart if I got myself into a situation such as the sort."

She brings three pink roses up to the counter and drops a little bubblegum flavored candy stick with the pile.

"Oh, but you're smart enough to apologize for it." The woman turns around to wrap up the roses in a red plastic sheet, taking care of each corner, making sure to be careful. "Apologizing is for the ones who are strong. Stronger than those who think it's surrendering when it's not. Saying you're sorry means that you were able to face your mistakes and that you're willing to do something about them. Apologizing does not mean you were wrong and that the other was right, rather it means that you value your relationship with the other more than your own ego. That clearly says that you're clever enough to fix things."

Bora slides some scrunched won onto the counter, utterly speechless.

The woman beams yet again. "Just giving a piece of advice for the youth of our country."

"I really appreciate it, thank you." Bora grins, knowing a piece of her heart had just gained life again.

She skips out the door with the previously burning fire raging even more than before, deciding to stop in the bakery next door to get a couple pastries. Specifically, two cinnamon buns (without raisins, Hyorin hates raisins), a six-pack of donuts for the road (as long as they actually make it to the road, together), and two iced lattes (Hyorin's with a double shot of expresso).

She knew Hyorin like the back of her hand, and she knew she could make things right.

----

Bora paced down the hallway of the fifth story of the hotel, her sneakers rubbing against the carpet and making a hollow stepping noise. Her fingers were curled around the bouquet and the bakery bag, and her other hand holding on to the drink tray. She rounds the corner only to step back behind the wall. She catches a light brown haired woman slipped into their hotel room.

Hyorin.

Oh God, oh God, oh God.

She takes a deep breath, gives herself a high five, and sets off around the corner with her head held high.

The door closes just as she approaches it. Putting her hand on the handle, she slowly turns it and swings the door open.

"Hi." She breathlessly says.

There she stands, Bora's self-proclaimed goddess, the one and only Hyorin. Her light brown ombre locks were still wavy from yesterday's curls, flowing down just below her armpit. She wore a simple blue tank, one Bora clearly remembers buying for her almost three years ago, white short shorts with a few rips along the thigh, and the couple necklace Bora also bought for her, one that resembles an outstretched hand with the words love splayed across the palm (Bora had the other hand, with the word my on the palm).

Other than her physical appearance, Hyorin was a complete mirror of Bora at the moment.

She had a look of confusion across her tanned face, one hand clutching a tray containing two bubble tea's, the other holding two bags. One, a compact white bag, with a rectangular shape inside. Two, a bigger brown bag, much like Bora's but only with the words Farmer's Market on the side of it.

"Hi yourself." Hyorin smiles, her pearly white teeth letting a laugh slip by.

Bora put down everything but the bouquet. "I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't know you loved Sangju that much. I just thought we could be able to spend some-"

"Quiet quality time together, I know. And that's what I had planned for us in Sangju." Hyorin explained.

"What?" Bora's confusion spread all around her body. "Oh my God, are you serious? Oh, I had no-"

"Yes, yes, I know you didn't know! I overreacted yesterday, okay? I asked my cousins to set up something really nice for us down by the creek, like a nice little picnic or dinner under the moonlight. Then, I freaked out because I knew they would spend all day trying to make us something nice, so I had to text them to stop, and then..." She pauses, looking up from the floor and into Bora's eyes. "Well, you get the point. But, it wasn't your fault. I know how much you've missed me, and I know how much you just want to sit here with me in silence. So, instead of doing it in Sangju, I thought I would just bring you stuff you liked and we could just lie here all day. That's why I left early this morning and purposely avoided you, so I could try to surprise you. I'm sorry."

Bora's speechless for the second time that day. She shakes her head, trying to make some sort of communication come out of her mouth.

"You don't have to say anything, I like the flowers." Hyorin grabs the bouquet out of Bora's hands. "But, I hope you do realize we're going to be on the road for another day, these are probably going to die."

They both laugh as they embrace each other in a warm hug.

"It was an impulse decision, I was in the heat of the moment." Bora nuzzles her nose into Hyorin's hair.

Hyorin sighs into her neck.

"I'm assuming you bought the same things I bought for you?"

"Probably, yeah." She giggles, throwing the both of them on to the bed.

Hyorin curls up into Bora, draping an arm over her shoulder as the other wrapped her arms around her waist, interlocking her fingers and creating a firm hold on the younger.

"We can stay here all day, if you like," Hyorin mumbles. "I don't mind."

"I don't mind either." Bora exhales for once.

She really enjoyed silent moments.

A/N: Done. It's midnight and I didn't proofread this. Honestly, this fic was a hassle considering the fact that my brain likes to go off track with everything I think of. I had the title, which was the inspiration for the whole thing, and I started out good. Then, it kinda just went off track like 2983 times and I had to reel it back in, changing bits and pieces here and there. Tbh, I don't even know why the old woman came in to the picture, I just I dunno... Her little speech is taken from a couple quotes on tumblr so creds to that... But, it is done, and now I can focus on the L/Jiae fic I'm working on, so look forward to that!

Again, I didn't read this over, so I apologize for any mistakes. ^^
