Practicing some arrays. Some alchemists, myself included, have the skills to activate our powers without them. But I try to keep myself fresh, just in case a situation happens along where I need to draw one.

I suppose that makes sense. What sort of situations do you use Alchemy for? I've seen it in... entertainment purposes, but... Is it possible to use it in combat?

It's used for a lot of practical things, like repairs and creating useful objects. That's how most alchemists use it.

In my country, Amestris, there is a special force in the military known as the State Alchemists. They're weapons in human form, specifically designed for war. So yes, it can be used in combat.

I've seen a man warp the metal of an entire city block before, and Colonel Roy Mustang can cause explosions over a huge area with a snap of his fingers.

Asuna's an artist, I just draw arrays... I'm not that artistic of a soul. I try my hand at poetry sometimes but I'm hopelessly bad at it. Art and perfectionism do not go together.

A novel, I think. I've only just started reading, and syntax is so ancient I'm having a hard time with the translation.

The first one's meant to fragment a person's soul and put it into an object for a limited period. The second is a very crude form of the same thing, without the fragmentation.
