cooking well can be very simple, without being fancy too. Just chop up a bunch of anything and toss it in a frying pan with oil and spices (well, that's what most of my meals are) or chop up a bunch of anything and put in on noodles... and so on... :)
I'm quite proud of myself because I had to make a roux for the base - a difficult thing for people like me. I'm lucky it didn't turn out tasting like burnt milk.
Pretty much anything is good with noodles and a little olive oil, I do believe. I may try that next time.
