I'll second the Vitex (aka Agnus Castus), and I've noticed the tincture, though more expensive, works better for me than the pills/capsules.
Also, it's a good idea to avoid soy (it's phytoestrogenic and you really don't need any more oestrogen) and starchy foods (they, along with sugar, provoke an insulin response which worsens insulin resistance). That means whole grains and pulses, which are so lauded everywhere as super healthy, are really not so great for insulin-resistant PCOS women. Don't be afraid of fat, eat plenty of protein and keep your starch and sugar to a minimum. Oh, and also avoid fake sugars like the plague, if you want something sweet go for the real sugar option - it's not great but it's not as bad as the fake sugar.

you are god. thanks so much, this is exactly what i needed to read!

also, i started the nuvaring bc because my chemicals are horribly out-of-whack. i've got a little manliness to me and it makes me feel awful about myself. i'm pretty sure my doctor said my estrogen wasn't an issue. i'll of course talk to her about it. i am so uneducated, it's embarrassing, but do you think it still would be a bad idea to eat soy?

Vitamin E will help control your blood sugar and therefore help eliminate symptoms. Also, Cinnamon and B Complex will help.
