I just read that Pride and Prejudice will be republished with "explosive sex scenes". I hate that. It's taking me a while to read P&P, but I've seen the movie enough times to know how wrong that is. The reason it's so romantic is that there are no sex scenes or much physical interaction at all. No one's going to care or understand what a huge thing ( Read more... )

I don't understand why they'd bother to "republish" P&P. There are already knock-offs out there with sex scenes so explicit they even make me blush. Besides, it would have been totally unrealistic to have expected them to have sex- she would have been shamed into leaving her home and could never, ever marry and he was much too responsible to ever do something like that. It completely ruins the romance of the original! Don't get me wrong, I like the re-tellings, but I like them to be period-correct, not just hot.

I think it's stupid that they are adding explosive sex scenes. I know sex sells, but I think it's out of place for that book.

Yay, Big Brother! I know, I don't care for the forced alliances, either. I prefer it when they are all individuals. And yeah, veto is absolutely pointless unless someone who is nominated wins! They never take risks.
