Dinah had sent Raven a text that she'd be on-campus this afternoon, and was hanging out waiting for her first class of the semester to start ("Political Terrorism: What We've Learned Since No Man's Land").

Hmm, another global text:

Add/Drop 'A History of Vigilantes' ? Depressing, uplifting? Or add 'Prisons and Asylums: Where Arkham is Failing'?

And a timely text that was -- it served as the perfect reminder that Priestly was being terribly neglectful of keeping his BFF up-to-date.

But, well, that's what happened when someone suddenly handed you a restaurant.

Either way, Dinah's phone was a-ringing away.

Priestly grinned. "Yes. Yes I am. What do you think, should I implement theme dress up days?"

Dinah cackled evilly. "Yes. Yes, I think this is a requirement. I think they would benefit from being in a fine, fine establishment that caters to the amusement of its customers and whims of its manager." HEE.

"I think that's totally a plan, then. See? Things are looking up!"

He needed that assurance as much as he thought she might, yes.

"They are!" Dinah's agreement was two parts sincerity and one part total BFF support. "You're going to have fun with this. And it's not like you don't know what to expect. And I bet you could hide in that freezer if something really weird happened right? Also, you can threaten people with your freezer if they get out of line or crazy. Nuclear!"

"Weaponizing the freezer. Now why didn't I think of that?" Probably had something to do with him not being a superhero. "And just think of all the weird pictures I'll get to send back home. Jen totally needs a poster of a teal deer."

Dinah was slowly beginning to genuinely warm to this idea. "Dude, yes. And if the moose come back, you can send pix of that, and now that they know all about Fandom, it'll be so much easier to tell them what you're up to." And maybe Tish would miss him more? "Oh hey and now we're in the same time zone! Way easier to Skype and phone and text and maybe come down and see you a lot!"

"I might possibly get slightly less weird looks for sending them pictures of me as a colorful pony, for instance."

Not that Priestly had ever turned into a colorful pony. He figured it was a matter of time.

"I am first on that list!" Dinah so wanted to see a mohawked pony. "Also, you have me on speed-dial if things get weird and crazy enough to need help and I will be there faster than you can say Portalocity." She grinned. "Jack's still on the island you know. And I think a couple other people were talking about teaching. This could be really fun."

"Yeah? Man, I haven't seen that guy in forever." Possibly literally, knowing how weird time zones could be from Fandom. "Hey, maybe I'll end up with a whole new crew of misfits to hang out with."

"That would be cool. Plus! You can mentor burgeoning anarchists there," Dinah pointed out, liking this idea more and more. "... you're just not allowed to die. Again."

Ever. Duh.

"Yeah, that's so far from part of my plan it's not even funny."

"Good. Then I can get behind this. Beside this. Support this. Whatever." Dinah took another slurp of her mocha. "So... Tish didn't say anything? When you left?"

"Well, she passionately declared her undying love for me and -- oh, wait, no, because we broke up when she couldn't deal with my shit. She said 'bye', and told me not to get killed. Just like everyone else."

Dinah winced. She'd hoped Tish had objected or something, but... Yeah. "I'm sorry. Really." She grimaced. "Do you want to come up to New Gotham, do the drunken binge ice cream movie thing? It's girly, but it helps."

"It's possible I should actually stick around to figure out how to manage my fancy new restaurant." How terrifying was that? "But rain check?"
