The Clocktower, New Gotham City, Sunday Afternoon

Jun 26, 2011 12:29

There was brunch, and there was talking in Spanish to Barbara, and there was waiting for Karla to arrive for foodness and a day of goofing off. There might even be a Knights game, later.

Perfect Sunday in New Gotham. Well, if you weren't fighting crime at the moment.

[expecting one, then another, but open for phone calls earlier!]

karla, barbara, crimefighting for great... something, do i look like dr. phil?, alfred, jaime, helena, momoko, gotham

Karla had come prepared for a Knight's game just in case: she had on her jersey and had come up with a string of blistering insults for the opposing team. Perhaps there would even be a small child sitting nearby whose vocabulary she could expand.

Karla was easily amused.

"Kiss kiss!" she called, stepping out from the portal. "Delivery for Miss Dinah Lance? One medium-sized bundle of mischief?"

"Eee!" Dinah put down her fork and bounced over to lift Karla up with her hug, grinning. "Ooo, are you sure it's not over-stuffed? Are you sure I didn't get the extra-large bundle in a size four bag? I don't have to pay extra shipping?"

Karla laughed and squeezed Dinah back. She got all the hugs. "Portalocity gave you a discount," she said. "Mostly to make sure you'd accept the package so they wouldn't get stuck with it."

"Their loss. It makes up for all the times they got me lost," Dinah decided with an extra squeeze, putting her down. "You're just in time for Alfred's extra-special fruit crepes with home-made ice cream." She poked at Karla's shirt. "And yay for coming prepared."

Blossom had no idea why she was here, but it was the first place she'd thought to go, even if she totally didn't want to say why.

She probably should have called first, but luckily she remembered the way to the Clocktower and she came down from cloud cover to land near the clockface door.

Knock, knock

"Ummm...." Dinah frowned, got up, and went to the door at the Clock face. Maybe it was Superman??

No.

"Momoko? Hi, c'mon in. What--" Are you doing here? "A surprise!"

Blossom grinned and stepped in. "Sorry I didn't call. Is it a problem? I can totally go and, uhm... do something else if I'm bothering you?"

"No!" Not after that chat with Jaime, seriously. "No, we were just thinking of maybe hitting a Knights game in a couple hours, Karla's here, c'mon in!"

And right this moment, Dinah's phone is ringing.

Someone needs talking down.

Dinah blinked as the theme from Zorro played on her phone, and she said, "Hang on, I gotta take this." She took it out and sang out, "Clock Tower fan franchise, home of the Number One supporters of the New Gotham Knights! What's the yell for today?"

Jaime didn't respond with the usual banter.

"I don't know what to do," he said, keeping his voice soft to hide the panic.

Whut-oh? Dinah held up a finger to everyone, and headed to the gym so she could talk a little more privately. "What's wrong?" she asked, keeping her own voice down.

Later on the wall around Robinson Park... blondecanary June 27 2011, 03:28:39 UTC
The sun had gone down half an hour ago, but Broadway on one side, and the park on the other, were still pretty busy.

Under cover of one of the larger trees, Dinah was checking out the footpath through her new infrared goggles, and looking thoughtful.

"Ladies, I think we have our first customer."

Two girls were cutting through the park... very closely followed by a guy who was getting a little too close.

Blossom frowned, straining to see. "Hmm. Looks like a purse-snatcher. Are we sure there's only the one?" Blossom was feeling a bit eager, tonight.

Karla--rather, Mistress Mayhem--looked over eagerly, checking for other psychic scents. The two females were calm, unaware of their danger for now; the male following a mix of anticipation and adrenaline. There were others in the park, of course, but none close enough and with the right mix of emotions to be involved.

"He is," she confirmed, trying not to bounce in place. She'd helped!

"Excellent," Dinah said, tracking them, then jerking her head, keeping her voice down. "Intercepting a mugger, Oracle, near the west footpath on Broadway. No back-up needed." She tapped her earring again as Barbara acknowledged, then said quietly, "First, we get closer without being spotted. Fast. Karla, can you do a sight-shield on us until we're within five yards?"

She was already sneaking along the top of the wall, motioning them after her.

It was laaaate, but Alfred had left snacks; Chinese dumplings, egg rolls, pot stickers and won-tons.

"Right. That went well." Not even said with sarcasm, just thoughtfulness.

Momoko was silent, but glare-y as she reached for a pair of chopsticks.

Three dumplings and an egg roll later, she was a bit calmer and managed a sigh as she reached for another dumpling. "That was totally the weirdest patrol we have ever been on."

Karla kept giving Momoko sulkily injured glares right back, while making a pile of won-tons on her plate. "I think it went very well," she announced.

With her vast patrol experience, of course.

"It did," Dinah said, meaning it, but... "It was kind of weird, though. The magic definitely helped; I wish we could get something to make an invisibility shield when you weren't here." She nibbled on a pot-sticker, then said carefully, "And no one got permanently hurt." Which was just as important as catching them.
