Momoko finally tidied up enough to find paper and pen and wrote a reply note:

When she finally finished rewriting it so it would fit in the little carrier thingie (which meant she had to cut a whole bunch of stuff from her message), the bird just stared at her. "What? Fly away now. Shoo! or whatever." It cocked it's head at her and blinked. Disdainfully.
It was a full 20 minutes later before Momoko figured out that it wanted food before it would leave.
