My second prompt on my
nekid_spike festive prompt card, Christmas Cracker.
I don't know how well known or popular Christmas crackers are outside of the UK, but for those of you who aren't familiar with them and would like to know, here's a quick run down.
Feel free to skip the educational bit and move down to the pretties! :D
*puts on teacher hat and stands on soap box*
Christmas crackers are as important to the traditional UK Christmas dinner as the turkey is. They are basically a hollow cardboard and decorative paper tube segmented into three pieces, a centre and two ends pieces that you grab onto to pull apart the cracker, with a snap running lengthways through the middle. Inside the centre piece there is traditionally a motto or festive joke, a tissue paper crown shaped hat and a cheap gift or toy(...or in my house, a small quality gift purchased and specially chosen for each dinner guest and inserted into the standard shop bought cracker, because I don't like cheap and nasty trashy toys in my crackers!) and placed at each place setting on the Christmas dining table. Generally before the start of the meal the crackers are pulled by the dinner guests and supposedly the "crack" the snap makes when the cracker splits apart, and the hat, gifts & motto are revealed, is how the Christmas cracker got it's name.
*steps down from soap box*
...and now onto the pretties!
My Christmas cracker prompt is filled by two gorgeous and previous nekid guests, Jensen Ackles, and from the cast of Supernatural, Dean Winchester!
LOL! Yeah, a bonus, two gifts in one!
Warning: nothing shocking, but scantily dressed, so likely not worksafe!
