Friday night I went to a panel called "Firefly: Still Shiny After All These Years" which was about the TV show Firefly and the movie Serenity. The audience kept correcting some of the panelists about many scenes and other stuff about the show and, after about ten minutes or so, I left.

On Saturday afternoon I went to a panel called "The Paranormal ( Read more... )

I HAAAAAATE fan panels. I've never been to one that didn't dissolve into wank. It's like they get together to lead a big diss-fest. I've walked out of the Dragon con Supernatural fan panel twice, and at this point I'm never going back.

Actual panels continue to rock, though, so that's good. :)

Yeah, I probably won't be going to anymore fan panels any time soon. I did go to some actual panels which I enjoyed very much.

TBH, I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never been to fan panels. I was glad the Firefly panel went the way it did as it motivated me to leave and go to an actual panel going on at the same time that I had wanted to attend anyway and I liked it much better.

Yeah, that's mainly why I don't go to those types of panels.

Oh good grief. I'm happy to say I've never been to a panel as lame as the first one you described. Maybe this is because I generally don't go to panels? Or because I'm very picky when I go through the program guide and only choose ones I'm pretty sure will be good?

I wasn't sure if they were fan panels so I didn't know what to expect. I am glad the Firefly one turned out to be lame, it motivated me to leave and go across the hall to a panel Cory Doctorow and beamjockey were part of that I had also wanted to see, anyway.

I will definitely be more choosey about panels in the future.
