5 May. The Castle. - The grey of the morning has passed, and the sun is high over the distant horizon, which seems jagged, whether with trees or hills I know not, for it is so far off that big things and little are mixed. I am not sleepy, and, as I am not to be called till I awake, naturally I write till sleep comes. ( There are many odd things to put down... )

Ok, people, clearly we have to work on our tourist approach here. For one thing, robber's steak? Are you kidding me? Look, when people are heading to spend what they think will be several luxury filled days in an exotic Eastern European castle, they're thinking spas. They're thinking gorgeous mountains. They're thinking rich spicy food. These are the sorts of thoughts we want to encourage, not indications that our country is just full of robbers ready to leap on unsuspecting travellers. After all, in that case, they might start being watchful and ready, which in my experience means that they're looking out for their necks. Again, neck guarding, not what we're trying to encourage here, people ( ... )
