So, I went into Barnes&Nobles today to kill some time and look for a set of manga from DM for my roomie's birthday (no such luck ;_;). Speaking as someone who worked in a bookstore for quite some time. The worst was when she put a book on her show that was going out of print. OUT. OF. PRINT. I got yelled at so much on the phone those few weeks. ;-;
It's all marketing. I don't think the books with movie covers ever sold as well anyway.
This does remind me though, years back Stephen King wrote a screenplay to a TV Movie, right? So everyone came in for the book because they saw that it had been written by him. Except the "book" was just the screenplay in book form. It wasn't written in story form. I got so sick of people complaining about it that I started telling people as they were buy it. A lot of them didn't buy it then. I think that marketing ploy would have worked better if they had just released a book. :) Though, I'm sure it still sold well.

What's up with people not actually looking at what they're buying, anyway? I always flip through before plopping down my money. Of course, I also buy a lot used.
