i'm torn. my locks have defined me for 10 yrs. i have marveled at them and loved them and then neglected them like everything i've ever treasured in my life. tonight i'm on the verge of taking a strait razor to my scalp and mowing every strand to peach fuzz. it's been building for months. maybe a year now.

But a few times in my life I cut my long hair short - and then shaved my whole body. Kind of from a starting over, starting fresh place. I think it's interesting because we often do carry a lot of our personal histories in our hair. For many people it is an expression of who they are at any given moment in time, and when that place changes, so does thier hair.
I think your hair is beautuful with dreds, and although I've never seen you without them ... I'm sure you will be just as stunningly Natalie! Keep us posted, whichever your choice...
