Cruft doesn't even begin to cover it. Of the piles and piles of stuff we moved out to be trashed, it was basically all between 9 and 25(!!) years old.

Some days I want to have a yard sale where I just put everything out for free, except from experience I think that often giving things away is more difficult than selling them.

LJ will tell you how long it's been since someone else logged in? How do I find this information?

No, but it will tell you when they last updated their journal. On your profile page, I can see under gipsieee: "Permanent Account, Created on 1 January 2004 (#1757366), Last updated on 6 March 2016." I'm pretty sure the date shows for any update, even ones that I can't see.

Since there are definitely people who read but don't post, I also checked when the last time I had any interaction with them on LJ anywhere, thanks to a gmail archive that goes back about 7 years.

Not completely perfect, but even being generous and going back to 2014 was enough to cut a lot of people.
