When I was a senior in college I brought a huge bag of grapefruit back to school from winter break to share with friends. I arrived very late at night and went straight to bed. That night it got much much colder than it normally does in coastal Virginia, down into the single digits. You can guess what happened to the grapefruit I'd left in the car. How was I to know? Where you and I grew up, it was perfectly reasonable to leave fruit in the car overnight in the winter (not in the summer, of course). It was very sad.

Oh, also feeling totally nostalgic for Florida grapefruit. My favorite is the Indian River fruit--which we could buy straight from the farms when we lived in Clearwater. Best. Grapefruit. Ever. *sigh*

i'm surprised that Katy and Eli haven't had steel cut oats, as Josh and i periodically make an over-night crock pot version of such if we expect people in the morning.
We should do that more often. If you had some dried fruit you don't need much more flavor.
