it's very funny - i can do the 4 strand box now, but it takes me more than 60 seconds and is therefore not ok. so i need to go find other people to practice on. *amused*
That thing with the oven and a cat happened to me once. Turned out there was a bat under there! I'm sure that wasn't the case for you, though. ;-) You might want to put the under-oven drawer out and check for evidence of rodentiary incursion, though.
Not Red Door because that was the name of a college house around here about 10 years ago. Except apparently nobody from around them actually reads my LJ that closely, so it was lost. :)
Oh, and I bet there was -something- under it, since I just remembered the first time I used the oven, there was this odd dead moth smell for a while nearby, but it hadn't happened lately. I'll check into it soon.
I'll need to swing by your room at some point. :-)
What probably happened with your power is that one of the two legs of your incoming feed went out. All of your outlets and lights etc. are powered from one leg or the other, and high-current appliances like electric dryers and ranges use both. I'd definitely talk to an electrician about the flickering, though if it started because of a windstorm, it might actually be the connection at the pole (assuming it's from a pole and not underground).
Electric company came out today, said they weren't sure exactly what was wrong (since everything was working at that time), but they found a broken wire near the pole and replaced it and a couple others, so hopefully that was the problem.

That actually had to echo through my head a couple of times before it clicked, at which point I had to scroll back up to tell you: "Ow."

You know... I see a red door, and I want to paint it black.
