the heart of a shimmering summer's day

Aug 08, 2006 21:01

Now that the heat wave over the northeast has mostly passed, I can talk about my love for summer without getting beaten up. Yes, I am a hot weather person. For those who don't know yet, I hail from the exotic, tropical country of Floridia (more commonly known as the state of Florida). More than just a 'gator-infested swamp with a mouse stuck in ( Read more... )

Thanks! It was a totally lucky shot. They were swarming around, waiting for a fraction of a french fry to show up so they could snatch it, and I snapped wildly, getting a few pics of blank sky, and miraculously, this one. :)

I'm a summer girl too, although I'm grateful for my climate control. I think this is largely because I'm cold so often that I love being warm. Also, I like feeling my hair on the backs of my shoulders, and I have a mad love for ice cream.

Yeah, I totally appreciate being cold ALL the time. Grr! Being comfortably warm enough is so rare.

Also, ice cream. Mmmmmmm.

Clearwater!!! I'm a graduate of Clearwater High School! I didn't know you were a Floridian too! I lived there age 6-18, in Indian Rocks Beach South Shore (try fitting that on a form) (now known as Indian Shores) and Clearwater. Where did you live? How long?

I love being able to wear shorts or skirt and tank top and sandals, without getting too cold. I love that warm tingly feeling I get from walking outside after being in cool air and feeling sun on my shoulders and back.

Yes! It it hasn't been warm enough to wear a tank top and shorts outside at night, then it hasn't been summer yet. If it hasn't been warm enough for skinny dipping at night, it hasn't been summer yet.

Ee! I grew up in Tampa, from birth to 18, when I moved to Pittsburgh to go to school there. I rarely visited clearwater; most of our beach trips were down in Englewood where we'd rent a place for a week with a bunch of friends.

Hooray. :)

What you say about heat is what I say about cold. But I also have grown to love heat extremes, too. I missed it in California when it *never* got disgustingly hot and muggy.

I am that way.

I love hot languid summer days, bright sun, and thunderstorms.
I love brisk fall days with the wind rustling the leaves.
I love snowy winter days with the hush that comes with pure snow.
I love warming vibrant spring days, and the sense of rebirth that comes with them.

I love basking in the sun, bundling up against fall, trudging through snow, and running in the spring rains.

... and you're in Seattle?

Pittsburgh is almost my ideal -- it's just a little too warm in winter.

The kids and I were in Sarasota just last week. I hope that you weren't in Tampa then, or I'm going to be mad at myself for not having read my LJ!
