...what other option? Sounds like a horsey heaven, mate :) You will be just fine riding another horse. Yes it will prob take a little time to 'gell', but it's FUN! Just enjoy it. Listen to your horse, breathe and smile :) The rest should come pretty naturally.

quite a few ppl have advised getting him put down. as in, he's outlived his usefulness, and it's not as if i have a retirement farm or whatever to just put him in. i don't find it insulting or anything, and i get where ppl are coming from when they suggest this, but IMO he's not mortally injured & he's still so young, he has plenty of life & spirit left. i am in no hurry to make that sort of decision yet.

i am pretty good at collecting horses tho.

I definitely think it's too soon to be looking at that, omg!
I can understand putting a horse down. i've done before, I'm sure I'll have to do it again, and when it's necessary, it's necessary. But i think there's a lot of options left before that.

OMG WHUT?!?!?!?! Holy SHEET! Just because a horse can't be ridden any more doesn't automatically mean KILL the poor thing!!!!! FARK!!!! Oh HELL would I find that insulting. I'd bloody well shoot THEM! Oh all the NERVE! By that reasoning I should have shot Danny YEARS ago! God I HATE when people have that attitude. Shows a real bloody love for the bloody animals, doesn't it. If he were in pain then yeah it's something that would need to be considered, but if he's happy and able to lead a good life just being a horse, and you are happy to continue caring for him, then WTF MAAAAAAATE?!?!? Jezzzzus that just sh**s me to tears, that attitude, seriously.
I really hope someone offers to shoot THEM if they were get hurt, or when they get old. Sons of bitches.
Really rather angry now, and it wasn't even suggested to me :D
*stomps off to go kick someone, considering I'm at work, this could be interesting*

I think you're making a good decision for him, seems like he'll be enjoying pastures and being a horse! :) I know with Posie I'd love to just let her be a horse but she's not a herd animal, she doesn't socialize well with others and like the safety of her stall and paddock to the field. She's peculiar like that. It does sound as though this is a great fit for Beej though and I really hope he settles in and heals up. Good luck with riding Kym, I am sure you will do great!
