I have friends that i play with on World of Warcraft who are down in Melbourne area. They were nearly evacuated. I think I shall send them more e-hugs.
Also, what the hell is it with people starting fires during dry season? We had some idiot try that here in Florida during our season and start a horrible wildfire. Everything ignited like tinder.
If my horses are dead I will fucking hunt this cunt down and I don't even know. I've had no sleep but I don't think that it will numb the feeling. I can't believe this has happened.
We new that the weather was awful and fires were likely but what happened was just insane. In Kinglake it just hit incredibly fast. It happened in 2006 in Kinglake but it was a day before we even had to evacuate the horses because the fire moved so slowly and in retrospect it probably started closer than today's fire. Today the wind was insane. I was in contact with my BO throughout the day and she started off saying it was fine when I asked if we should move, then she said they could see smoke from about 40km away but it was fine, then half an hour later they were surrounded. They've lost their house. We haven't heard from them.
It was so fast. No one had time to move. That's why we have such high death tolls and although I don't think I'll ever forgive myself, we just didn't have time to move the horses before the roads all closed. It's now 5.30 and I am going to drive up soon. There are fires on the way up though so I am going to wait until light.
Sorry if this is weird. I've only had 1 hrs sleep.
I will post later. At the moment I can't really begin to grasp everything that has happened. I'm safe, my horses are safe. My heart is broken tho, I can't even... I just can't.
