OK, yeah. There's a button on the toolbar in rich text mode. When you mouse over it, it says "Livejournal Cut". A small pop-up comes up for "Cut Link Text?" where you type the text for your cut.
When you do that, a grey box comes up in the text edit box. Type, or copy/paste your stuff into that grey box. Post, then BAM, you're done!

If you're using either a client or the website, there should be a button for creating cut tags. How are you posting?

i just clicked on the "rich text" option when i went to Post an Entry. so as part of livejournal.

Lolita is not all that great. I was not impressed. I was hoping for smut and got some french guy blathering about his feewings :P
