Oh joys, remember what Jinx was like on our rides? he would jig jog all the time - though none of the other silly stuff.

Must be frustrating. But give yourself a pat on the back you guys have come such a long way.

it pissed me off cos he was SO nice! we went right around to the back of the property and he's normally very bug eyed and scared, but he was so cruisy & chilled. and it was the INSTANT we turned about-face that the fireworks started.

ugh.

i do NOT like jig jogging. especially cos there's the added risk of not quite knowing what he's got up his sleeve. i've had jig jogging ponies before & it was fine cos that's all they did, but beejay has pulled some ripper behaviour out from thin air on a number of occassions and that's what gives me the shits mostly.

Totally know what your talking about.
Harry was similar in that you never know what he may pull so you were always on your toes.

What helps with Harper, since she has those explosions occasionally, too, is using Clinton Anderson's flexing. I used it before CA really made a big deal out of it, but making them stop and flex from side to side until they relax and give you that huge sigh and start chewing the bit... it usually turns off that ZOMGBATSHITCRAZY part of the brain.

Yes, that DOES mean we occasionally spin in circles until she unwinds, but that is a far better alternative that plunging knees and face first into a mudbank. That... was.... exhilarating?

hrm, i think we may do something similar already?
we do quite a lot of small circles - i chuck my inside leg on and circle him until he relaxes. i have also hauled his face around to my knee until he relaxes as well. not pretty, but it's almost as if i can actually tap him on the head & say "hello???? anyone home????" and he'll blink and 'wake up' - similar thing?

Ahh, yes. Hauling her head around works too, if she won't flex properly LOL

That's pretty much it, I just do it back and forth and back and forth until she calms down.
