What gets me, though, is that if you HADN'T given a warning ... people would have been like, "that's sick!" and so on. So I don't think you could've won either way. :(
Personally, I found this horrific (the photo I mean. The comments you got are just fail). What got me the most is that this is a freakin' ZOO! Bad enough in a circus, but a zoo?! Jesus. How anyone (and this goes for some of the people who replied to you, actually) can think it's oki or 'not that bad' needs their heads examining. I've nothing against using horses to perform etc., providing they're looked after and trained adequetly (major sp there). But big cats are a huuuuuge no-no, and putting predator and prey animals together like that...?? ARGH. Plus, this poor pony was also carrying around a 32 stone tiger. That's only a very little horse.

yup. you just worded exactly what i think. i don't disagree with using horses to perform (tho i'd prefer they didn't). it was just the predator/prey thing that made me so upset. i actually cried when i first saw that picture, it was horrible. Jed was saying that one of the radio presenters was trying to convince the other that it was a funny picture. she was like, "uhm, no. it's not." he compared it to training a monkey to ride a chicken.
nothing like it, imo! i'd much rather see a monkey on a chicken - they don't have years of instinctualised terror built in there! unless there's a breed of chicken eating monkeys somewhere. maybe those carnivorous chimps in africa somewhere.
