In the end, it's April who finds Jerry, sitting by himself on a metal bench in front of a small drainage pond optimistically posing as something considerably more pleasant, gazing out over the water.
She slides cautiously onto the bench next to him. "Heeey, Jerry. Old... buddy." She hits him awkwardly on the arm.
Jerry sighs, and rubs at his arm fretfully like she's some sort of boxer in training. "I suppose Leslie made you come find me," he says, and he just sounds kind of tired now.
"Well, yeah," she says, because she's pretty sure that sort of thing should be obvious. "You did disappear in the middle of your own retirement party. Leslie had to put the whole afternoon schedule on hold."
"I know."
"Grilling is on an indefinite hiatus. Ron is threatening to, like, mutiny or something."
Jerry fights back a smile and rubs his hand over his eyes, and he just seems old now in a way that April doesn't really want to think about too much. "It was just too much for me," he says ( ... )

"...but you don't understand, Dais." Tim clenched his hands together in a futile, pained gesture, and Mike nodded solemnly at his side. "It's bigger than that, it's... it's..." his voice broke, "it's art."
"Timmy's telling you the truth," Mike said solemnly, and clapped Tim solidly on the shoulder in a gesture of solidarity. "It's beautiful, it is."
"But isn't it a bit..." she fluttered her hands about her.
"What, Daisy? A bit unexpected, a bit subversive, a bit magnificent?"
"...a bit... well, girly?"
Tim and Mike gasped in unison.
"Bite your tongue, woman!"
"Ponies," said Daisy flatly.
Tim sniffed. "No need to be so reductive."
"My Little Ponies."
Mike put a hand over his heart and blinked back tears. Tim rubbed at his back soothingly.
Daisy sighed. "Fine, fine, I'll watch the first episode with you. Let me just put the kettle on first."
Tim and Mike gave each other high fives.

This is SO BEAUTIFUL. I love the mental image of them snuggling and being and feeling small under those stars. This is gorgeous and I'm so reccing it when I get on AO3!
