shoujo_battle; round 7Moar shoujo, yay, perfect opportunity to use CLAMP's artwork. This was another short round, rumble style, with a main twist: the themes were casino inspired. Moreover you could earn a lot of points with games each weak, fortunately luck was on my side that month~ I signed-up as the lovely Suu from Clover, isn't the alias icon cool?
challenge 01: pick a card, any cardI, like most people, was going to choose either the king or the queen card but in the end I used that image of the three-leaf twins to symbolize the two of clubs. Extracting that was painful... very. And yes crappy extraction = sharp edges ;-;Original | +8/-1/0g
challenge 02: the one-armed banditThe main requirement was to duplicate the image at least once, the result, a shiny Sakura icon and we had to use lyrics from Panda Bear's Slow Motion for the second icon. I found that pretty pic of a not well-known shoujo, changed the apple color from red to green - green apples >>> red apples, ugh I hate them except for those tyrolean apples that are super sweet, yum! ♥ - and voilà. challenge 03: spin the wheelSeishirou ♥♥♥ Main requirements were including any part of this image, in my icon is hidden at the bottom, and including any term from this list, I chose black. The verse in the icon, "Who art as black as hell", is from Shakespeare's Sonnet 147 and suits Sei-chan so well~Original | +4/-0/0g

mc_awards; round 1I had just signed-up for battleothesexes but I knew I had to participate in this one because it's one of my favourite icontests. It's been my longest LIMS so far, lasting for eight weeks, and the themes were inspired by a fairytale -like in solo20in20- in this case Snow Queen by Andersen. The alias this time is Sei-chan from Tokyo Babylon and X.
challenge 01: which treats of a mirror and of the splintersThe main requirement for this challenge was to include a mirror, I knew right away which image I was going to use. This manhwa, Flower of Evil, is definitely worth checking it out!Original | +6/-0/1g
challenge 02: a little boy and a little girlWe had to portrait a character's dark side and well, Seishirou was the obvious choice given that his depraved side is what I love the most about him ♥♥♥Original | +8/-2/0g
challenge 03: the snow queenThis icon was very rushed, I had to make it long before the deadline because I was going on holiday to Istanbul and I didn't want to use a skip since the theme was pretty nice. Lol, one of the requirements was to use winter colors but the original image is bluer than the icon /fails.Original | +11/-1/0g People’s Choice
challenge 04: of the flower-garden at the old woman's who understood witchcraftNothing much to say about this icon, just that extracting it was a pain in the butt. Also, there are flowers half hidden around her skirt, that's why it looks a bit messy.Original | +7/-5/0g
challenge 05: little robber maidenO ho ho this challenge was sooo fun :D We had to replace something from a character, whatever it might be. I think I got the idea while browsing through Otomen images, in this one Asuka is depicted with unusual broad shoulders, just like in Ace Attorney, so I just photoshopped (gimped, lol) young Phoenix's head onto his body. challenge 06: are you kay?I skipped this one, I had neither time nor inspiration -_-
challenge 07: the lapland woman and the finland womanHumm, this icon was kind of a mess but anyway! I ended up re-coloring all the clovers, since one of the requirements was making a predominantly white icon and I felt that green was a bit out of place ^^ The other requirement was to include any reference to the heart and that's why I left that big space at the right. My original plan was making a thick strip with a heart patterned background but sadly the result was ugly so I put a thin stripe instead filled with almost illegible text. challenge 08: eternity, and the endingFor the icon pair I knew they had to be perfectly connected (just like in the set for shoujo_battle) or else I would be upset. The theme for the icon pair was eternity so yeah, angels = eternity /so lame ;A; I tried to make them look like an oil on canvas but failed.
