Feigning Illness to Gain Sympathy and Attention: Hello Baron M

Recently I’ve noticed something about a fan that I honestly don’t follow either here on LJ or on Twitter that I think is “pullin a few legs”.  I have noticed a few replies to a comment of theirs from people that I do follow. I knew a girl who I suspect too was faking illnesses for sympathy, given that she told people different stories by what I heard. There's no excuse for that, IMO. It demeans people who really do have these diseases.

Though, I've also met people who use their illness or their situation to garner sympathy. Some people would rather be coddled than try to improve especially when it's a situation where it can be improved. I've spent too much time in my own illness that I don't understand why someone would want to stay in that hole, you know?

Exactly. There are people who NEED love, understanding and support for what they are going through. To have someone go around faking grave illness or in this case faking that their illness it life threatening is insulting. I hope you saw that as my intent here.

Yeah I hear you. I know that some use their bad situations without looking to help themselves. Sometimes I judge but remind myself if I had to go through it I can't guarantee that I would get a hold of it right off. Hopefully with time and support I would. Sometimes I just muck it up a bit more then have work double to pull myself out of it but I eventually do.

Yeah I try to be patient too, but after awhile you can start to tell that it isn't so much that they can't, they just won't. And that's the point when I kind of step back and just leave them to get it on their own. It's draining being around the kind of people who just whine about the negative, but aren't making efforts to fix it.

ummm it's possible. I just had to get that info out there. Like I said sometimes they are harmless but in my personal experience it was not so.
