I know pretty much exactly how you feel...not that it helps. Nothing really helps but time. My heart felt raw those first few months after my Daddy passed, but now I'm just so thankful for being so blessed to have had him in my life for all those years.
I'm sorry that your Grandfather had to suffer like that. Now, he's at peace.
I'm really sorry, hon. I know exactly how you feel. It does get easier with time (as cliche' as that sounds), but he will always be a profound influence on your life.
I'm about to go through it again...my great-grandfather is dying. This will probably be his last Christmas. He's in so much pain, and it kills me to watch him suffer and get thinner. But his personality is all there...he's the same sweet, generous man he always was. My great-grandmother won't be far behind. This is going to be rough.
