anyone want to have a go at recommending some other novels that might appeal to someone who's not much of a reader but really got into the Potter novels?
Garth Nix's 'Keys to the Kingdom' series (bonus: Australian author!).
Anything by Diana Wynne Jones, but Archer's Goon would be a particularly good place to start.
The 'Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series, except for the one written by Eion Colfer.
Lois McMaster Bujold's 'Vorkosigan' series.
Terry Pratchett, especially the 'Death' or 'Night Watch' Discworld subseries.
Stealing Harry by copperbadge is an AU where Harry is raised by Sirius and Remus. It has opt-out sections for the Remus/Sirius parts, but honestly, they're very mild. ETA: Oops, forgot the link: Stealing Harry.
I love Carlisle, he's by far the most interesting character in the books for me, but there's nearly no fic, so I will be keeping my eye on this post to see if any others pop up.
(I wrote one - a multi-fandom crossover type thing: Contemporaries, which is basically me trying to figure out what being a doctor means when you're a family oriented vampire. I wouldn't self-rec under normal circumstances, but it's the only Carlisle-centric fic I've ever seen.)

I am sad that it's the only one you've seen, but that was cool. Loved how you wove him into other stories :-).
