on very long distances

you know. long distance relationships are never as simple as they appear to the uninvolved... especially when the distance is not only miles but time zones. it's so difficult. for example, jeremy called me yesterday cause it was 830 his time... but i had a 9am class and was in bed cause it was 1130 my time... and then today i got the sweetest ( Read more... )

I feel your pain. Even though my boyfriend is only in Massachusetts, we're both too busy to have the hours-long conversations I crave at the end of every evening, and expense and classes dictate that we can only spend 2 or 3 weekends together a semester. I can only imagine how much worse 3000 miles and 3 hours time difference can make it. I've been dealing with the suck that is long distance since the start of freshman year, and all I can say is that it sort of gets better and sort of doesn't. As time goes on, I grow more accustomed to the fact that his hand can't be there to hold, even when I most need it. It doesn't take away any of the pain or loneliness though. The few days that we spend together are sacred, but saying goodbye is hell ( ... )

hey. thanks for the positive feedback. it's hard. specially when at penn people seem to laugh when you say you are in a long distance relationship. and i really want it to work. i love him and i can't imagine being without him. i think we are in similar positions. what have you done to make it better? what are some good ideas for packages? i'd love some advice from someone who has been through it cause i want him to know how much i love him despite the distance and the time and everything else. always looking for ways maybe we can share!
